Hello All you too Coop lol
I picked up this 84 double ear and got it for a great deal and the price i got it for makes me wonder if i am looking at the wrong coin. I think i paid less the 30 bucks for it a year or two ago.
here are photos anyone know about what this coin should sale for and if it is worth putting on the block. the spots are not that bad and i don't think they take from the coin much but there is a huge difference from what i paid and what the net says it's worth.
by the way i have been gone for over a year getting my wife back on her feet. she is not up yet and probably never will be so i am getting back into my coins to keep from hurting her lol some of you that care for elder family members that are not mobile will know exactly what I'm talking about lol.
anyway here are the pictures. it is Graded by PCI
thanks
all and welcome to the new guys and gals that i have yet to meet
Gary

I'm here. The spots will affect the price. Nice find. I've never found one yet myself.

I'll chime in on this one.
You have the scarce doubled die, no question about it.
The corrosion and spots are a killer so far as collectible value. Basically the coin is non-gradable by any of the reputable grading services, which kills its marketable value...but still it's a scarce doubled die. I think the price was right.

thanks Coop, Dick & Chuck. Can the coin be cleaned by A TPG and then graded ? This is Catherine Gary"s wife, he's torn up again. Still playing with the coins but going slow as can't do alot. As you can't mess with the coin with arm in cast, and it the right arm...sucks to be him...ha. ha ha ....
Looking forward to any response here or email.
Thanks Guys and please keep the prayers coming.

Cathy, it is nice to see you up and around! I thought you were a 'goner' there for a while. sure glad you made it. Gary is in good hands, and our prayers are still coming, just as they did for you.

Hi Cathy. Good to hear from you. Sorry about Gary. As we get older, we are just patched tubes. Fix one problem and then another patch is needed. I guess thats life?

I don't think the black stuff will come off a coin once it's embedded there...and even if it would, the final value of the coin probably wouldn't justify the expense, which could easily run $50 or more. It basically is what it is - a very corroded example of a very nice doubled die. As long as the stuff that's on it doesn't grow, enjoy what you have for what it is.

Let me say this,
A coin may be old, worn corroded, and just plain ugly, but if is is a good coin, then no matter what you wrap it in, it will never be worth more than the sentimental value!
You are such a coin, Gary! Ask Cathy!
