I just received a bunch of S mint pennies and have come across a great variety of RPMs and potential doubled dies. Does anyone have a picture of one for comparison ? Based on the CONECA descriptions DDO 02 has doubling primarily in the date and IGWT which is where this coin has it. Other than that I don't know of any markers to compare to. I have to leave for a father /daughter dance at my daughters school so I don't have time now but I will post a picture tomorrow.

Rollmeupabe,
Your wish is my command! I have photographed and posted on the site the circulated verion I have of of 1942S-1DO-002. (Coneca's die 2) There are a couple of markers there you may want to try and match up to your coin. In addition, the only other marker that I know of, and I was not able to photograph on this coin was a die crack on the bottom of the bottom of the jacket. Hopes this helps!

Bob, you are good. That is the baby I found today, which also happens to be my birthday. I considered a nice surprise. Here are the photos I just took.

I think I just fixed the problem. Let me know if it still does not work.

Hmmm...just returned one of these in an ANACS holder...62RD defective planchet (lamination-retained in upper right field but messed up rim in same area). I thought the lamination and noted defect were no big deal and graded the coin 64RD...65RD without the lamination.

Maybe $75 wasn't so bad of a price after all...

Roger

P.S. Nice score...and happy B-day.

Nice going rollmeupabe, just wanted to say ...

If you post using the "" the image will show on write up/post instead of the url, using " & ". (Given the picture/s are posted on the "www." some-were.)

Go to url (were picture is posted) and right click on the picture, go down to "properties" and left click. Left click and hold the left mouse buttom down, and high-light the "address/url"; right click again and select "copy"; then left click "OK"; and place into post, in between the above brakect/s. If you want to see if it worked ... left click "Preview" at the bottom of your post/s. If you didn't do it right, you will see a box for the picture and a little/small box within that box, with a small red x. If all went well, you will see the picture in your post/s as shown below.

The picture/s will appear in your post/s, as long as thy are located at the posted address/url.

This (like anything else) takes a few tries but will come easier, each time you do it.

Very nice photo/s (have to say) also ... good job, and happy birthday.

PLEASE MAKE NOTE:

"JUST BECAUSE IT IS POSTED ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB ...

(IT IS ALLWAYS BEST TO GIVE CREDIT TO THE AUTHOR/S FOR THIER WORK/S ...)

"COPY RIGHT, IMFRENGMENTS" ...

WILL BE AN ON GOING/UP COMING MATTER ... NOT TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY"

It is also a good idea, to have both pages (posting page & working from page) open at the same time as your posting ... I've done some that were lost because I closed the wrong page befor hitting the Submit button on post/s ... in that case, just have to start over from scratch.

To work within two pages, go up to File, down to New, then across to Window in your browser. After opening the second page in your browser, navigate to the page were you are going to be copying from.

Again, just takes a few practice tries and again ... happy hunting all.

(Remember ... just like in school ... tis always best to use your own work/s and if you use other's work, by all mean/s, give credit were credit is due ... in that:

I appreciate the effort Pennyhound, but as long as people are linking to (or using) the coppercoins photos here and directly off our server, there's no need to mention credit. In fact if they are using the 400x300 photos we use for showing die markers, the credit is already listed at the bottom of the photo.

But hey....thanks a million for posting and taking all that time to do so!

Thanks for the great feedback. I found a bunch of S mint RPMs in the same purchase as I found the 1942S DDO. I will try to use the steps outlined by Pennyhound to post some pictures later this weekend.

Rollmeupabe... Glad I was able to help you pin down your variety. Sometimes, it's the easiest way to get the quick answer to your questions.
By the way...those are awesome pictures you took. You tryin' to take my job away? Crying or Very sad

Pennyhound...It is real nice to see you taking such a big part in helping the folks here. Chuck and I appreciate your efforts. I feel that things are just getting going and will soon be in full swing again. Thanks again!

Well, Bob, Chuck and any other/s ...

tis always good for one to help out the other ... all part of a big family here and I for one, think that it is so awsome, for all to work together for the common good of the other/s, for in doing so, those that are helped may in thier own way ... take some time to pass that help (in thier own way) to other/s ... that may come ... this way on ... in the future.

More than glad to do it. Mr. Green
