I am not very good to say the least on class VI doubled dies, I watch for extra thickness but sometimes it looks like just impact damage.

Looks like a normal circulated coin from I can tell.

That looks like some normal wear making it look wide.
Some things to look for to find class 6 DDOs are the curved vertical bars on LIBERTY, the ramps on the horizontal bars on E of WE or paddle shaped tails on the 9.
Many circ coins look wide so the other things help.

I have never figured our what "thicker" means. Is it higher relief, even when worn, or is it refering to the width of the letters, (which would get wider, due to wear)?
Still got a lot to learn....

YES
Like you said it's tough to tell if it's from wear which is why I look for the curved vertical bars on LIBERTY, the ramps on the horizontal bars on E of WE or paddle shaped tails on the 9.
Here's some pics that show the curved letters on LIBERTY and ramps on WE on class 6 DDOs:

Thanks Ed,
I can now do much better with class VI identification, I didn't know about those special characteristics. And your pics help tremendously, especially the 1934P.
I didn't think about how normal wear would take the top layers of the elements down and make them look wider.
Yes, I am dealing most with wheats with average circulation, but hoping there will be a special one out there.

Ed, thanks! I knew that the wear pattern would remove the highest parts of all devices, as a matter of fact, but I didn't know about the curvature aspect. I have seen many, and tossed them!
This day is one I'll keep close tabs on, because not only the wheats, and the zincs, but also the bronze, and other metals, all wear.
