Hi Dick,
You wrote in one of your posts on a thread I started,
"O.T. Aren't you glad you didn't get any snow, like some of the others did?"
I'm not aure if that was intended for me, but thought I'd reply that yeah, right now its good for reasonable weather here.
Im battling a flu bug going on a second week, I hope your neighborhood there has stayed clear of problems and epidemics.
I have seen recent posts from CD so I think he pulled thru, and have heard of sub-zero temps for this weekend in parts of NM.

I still think global warming has something to do with it.

You stay well, it is always good to see your posts and replies.
Phil

Good morning, Phil!
Yes, it was at you, and unless I am confused, (my middle name), as to your qth, "location, you are no more likely to get snow, than I am. Peris, or Lake Elsinore area.
Sorry about your illness, but your wishes are correct, eg, I am "disgustingly healthy", and except for some back problems, from when I was in the service, I am fine. Too bad everyone couldn't be feeling as good.
Global warming? I think that is just a "term", for something that has gone on for more millions of years, than we are even aware oe. In other words, normal phenomena. Look at it this way: We, (this current civilization) has been atround a few million years, from the time we became part of the life-forms found here on earth. 4-1/2 Billion years is time enough for thousands of "civilizations" to have come,,and gone, (self-helped with things unknown to them, or how to handle them).
So it is normal. IMHO.
Get well quick! No one wants to be a "bed-bug"!

Global warming is a settled issue, as far as the scientific community is concerned. Has the world ever warmed up before? Of course. During the Eocene thermal maximum, the Earth was a steambath, with no ice at either pole. But this period of time also coincided with the disappearance of many archaic mammals and the appearance of most of the modern mammalian orders (including our own, Primates). Much more recently, during the late Miocene, we had another warm spell, with vascular plants growing in Antarctica.

So warming does happen naturally. They're saying the pace of the current warming is exceptional, but I haven't checked the scientific literature to make sure that this is the case.

The problem with the current warming is that the rise of civilization coincides with an unusually stable climatic period. Now, with a population approaching 7 billion, we're locked into the current climatic regime, along with our fragmented habitats. Animals, plants, people, agriculture are hemmed in.

Dick, that's real good to hear, your state of health, I mean.
Yeah, there was one year I was lucky enough to be home and up the morning following a cold snap, and from my yard looking west could see a snow line on the mountains of the Cleveland National Forest (what a name!) where highway 74 goes up and over the Ortega Pass.
Good to hear from you Mike D.
I like to hear people's views on "controversial" issues.
I agree the earth's history is riddled with ice ages and climatic change. I don't have time to sort thru all the data, and couldn't tell truth from fantasy. But we are experiencing changes, natural or not.
Only time will tell if the human race survives it, maybe off-world.
(Too much science fiction when I was a kid)
