I'm afraid that is nothing more than damage Paul. A secondary strike would not look like that at all. The fact that it resembles the tip of the shoulder is strictly coincidental.

From the bigger photo it looks like damage from a pinch from something.
You might even see something caused by it on the reverse.

I was going to ask to see the reversse. Is there a similar mark in the same relative position? If so, it probably is from a pair of needle-nose pliars, or something with a lot of pressure.

...or maybe they just wanted to see what would happen when they hit it with whatever it was... but it is most definitely NOT a mint error.
