Generally when I get rolls of 1961-D they are - well, average in quality. MS63, MS64 tops.

I just got in 40 rolls of 1961-D cents and every coin is at least MS64, and some of these things are MS66 quality! I have picked out 20 coins from 20 rolls that I am figuring would grade MS66RD at PCGS. Now my question is, should I send these in??

Maybe send the best of them and see how they get graded.
It's not enough for a bulk submission so there's not much reason to send them all right off.

That's a nice find, most 61-D rolls that I have looked at look nice and red but look like they went through a tumbler Wink

These are the prices realized on Teletrade for MS66RD 1961-D cents over the last year:

PCGS 70 75
NGC 50 50 45 50 24 27 45

If you want to see them, click here.

Hmmmm, you'll have to log in to see them.

If you're not a member, you can see the two that closed in the last 60 days by clicking here.

Hmm...looks like less risked, less gained by going through NGC on these. I think with the fees I can get I might just send them there.

Teletrade members can submit coins to PCGS/NGC/ICG/ANACS thru Teletrade. I think ANACS is $10 and the others are $11 for US coins.

You send the coins to TT, then they send them to whichever service you want, then the coins are consigned to an auction. Buy-back bids are the same as regular consignments.

It doesn't cost anything to join TT.

Also, for the time being (how long? nobody knows) for any coin you send to be slabbed thru TT that sells for $250 or more, the slabbing charge is waived.

I can remember a day when Teletrade was called "Teletrash" by a number of people - have those days passed? I really have no experience with the company at all because of that. I had always thought that was just another place where people dumped their garbage. Maybe I should look into it??

Here are some recent comments by the VAM guys about Teletrade. If you search vamworld's forum for teletrade you will get a page and a half of threads. Mostly discussing current auctions. This one has some comparative info.

I don't understand that one guys problem:

Quote:
Teletrade is tough because I know a few folks don't ever go there too anymore. Their buyback fees cripple the sellers of boutique coins like VAMs. I will say their imaging has recently gotten better. (You can tell the relisted coins because they don't reshoot them and hte images are lousy.)

It's tough because of a few folks not going there any more? That makes no sense. There are hundreds of thousands registered bidders on TT.

If you place a buyback bid prior to the start of the auction, the buyback fee is a measly 5 bucks. If you bid during the auction, you pay both buyer and sellers fees, but not the hammer price.

They DO reshoot coins that have been thru the mill before. I know this for a fact from looking at previous sales and seeing the same coin in an earlier auction.

Ten years; no problems.

You should go on there and explain that. They could use some new blood there. Rolling Eyes

I've used teletrade for some time and have never had issues with it. Have always been satisfied with my purchases.
