In identifying 1970 S small date Lincoln Cents, Will Liberty always appear mushy? Will there also be a difference between mintmarks? Thanks

While I agree 100% with chuck, I must also mention that I use a different method, due to vision problems. Check the level across toe nine, and seven. If the "7" is low, it is large, if even, small. Trying to compare the "liberty" is okay, if you have one of each, side by side, to make the comparison, fine, but if there is only one, memory has to serve. Don't let it fool you! Use a level across the top of the 9 and 7.
Works for me.

Thanks Chuck & Dick for the info. I searched a BU roll earlier and I did notice several of the cents that had mushy "LIBERTY" . Unfortunately they were all LD. On some of the coins the crease in the 7 was filled so I had to check the 9 and they were all squared off instead of the hook. Thanks Again .
