There's a big article in the Feb 14 issue, page 2. First paragraph:

"A 2004-D Lincoln cent with a significant doubled die reverse has been found by variety specialist Billy G. Crawford of South Carolina."

It then goes into diagnostics (with pics I think that were taken by Billy) and background on doubled dies.

Then on page 88 (same article) continues....

"Stronger varieties were found, usually on the reverse of Lincoln cents, but the ultimate discovery thus far came when Gabriel Alonso of Florida found a 2004-P Jefferson, Peace Medal 5-cent coin with a reverse doubled die."

Story ends:

"Many collectors stopped looking for doubled dies after Mint officials installed the new hubbing presses and announced that doubled dies were a thing of the past."

"Evidence continues to mount that they are not, and that there are many exciting current varieties out there still waiting to be found."

Ain't that the truth!

Congrats again Mr. Crawford and Mr. Alonso! Keep up the good work and we all hope more varieties are found.
