In Florida , an atheist created a case against Easter and
Passover Holy days.
He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.
The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the
passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"
The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.."
The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."
The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special
observance or holiday for atheists."
The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day.
Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day.
Court is adjourned.."; You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!
This is too good not to forward

Actually, atheists are indebted to the religious community for fostering so many holidays and paid days off.

What if you are praying to the wrong God? Then you just wasted your time?

I am sometimes amazed at religious "believers" who automatically tag those who don't believe (or drink the cool-aid) as they do - "Atheist". I think they do this because they see themselves as "all or nothing" in their beliefs and assume all others are Atheist believing there "is no God" to mirror the certainty of their religion.
I prefer Agnostic where one professes to not know, or better yet a Rationalist who is open to anything, but requires a certain amount of scientific rigor and discipline. Knowing is much better than believing even though believing sometimes can make you feel better.
As far as Bill Maher goes, I'm pretty much on the other side of him politically. But when it comes to Religion - we are "on the same page".

Richard Dawkins also has his similar take.

There is only one GOD.
The roads to his hand, are varied, and many.
It is up to the individual to choose which road to take.
The peoblem arises when HIS teachings are interpretted by the mortal, to his own way of thinking.
Take the Muslims, or Islam, and the belief that there will be 70 virgins for them in Heaven. I find that hard to believe, "especioally with the wat of life, as it is today, on Earth, where virginity has become a hindrance to ones own satisfaction"!

Virginity whats that
As for God there are many different names for him/her/it.
It is all about what you want to personally to believe in. After Life is something everyone wants to believe in, nobody wants to believe that when one dies, there is nothing
The Christians believe in heaven.
Buddist believe in reincarnation or Nirvana
Islam can't say about them, haven't look to hard at them except what the radicals you here about.
but the one thing they all have in common, is if you don't believe in their stuff, you are going to hell.
Just the other day, I had some Johevahs(?) come to the door and started preaching to me, I interrupted them and told them that I was raised Catholic. I thought they had just seen the devil, they started praying for me and the whole hoopla... I said Thank You and closed the door. Now they just put their books in the mailbox.
When I taught high school religious education at church, I taught them to be open to all religions for noone has the corner market on GOD. Of course this didn't set well with the higher ups so now I enjoy my Sundays on the back porch, drinking my coffee watching GODS world go by.[/u][/i]
