Hey Matt...good to see you here! As far as you request for markers on a 1909S VDB, there could be many since there were a few dies used. If you have Chuck's book 'Looking through Lincoln Cents', then there is a nice article in there containing all the info you would need. I would suggest purchasing one for the shop. It would be a great help for questions such as this. You can get one by following this link: http://www.coppercoins.com/book_order.php
As far as a couple of diagnostics to help you out until then:
The correct mintmark for 1909S VDB cents have a curl inside the upper serif and straight verticle and parallel cerifs compared with those mintmarks from later years.
The correct VDB configuration includes the B with a slanted downward middle bar. Most (If not all) counterfeits have a straight accross bar.
The easiest way is to get Chucks book. He has photos and diagnostics that will make it much easier.

hey, bob thanks it's been a few years since i have been here.....the last time i was here i was doing research on the 2000 and 1998 type 2's..... and discovering several die pairs. i will try to get some pictures of the mintmark, i recently bought a coin shop and have been going through all the coins in my inventory. i found a set i didn't remember i had it had a 1909 S VDB and an 1909 S along with the 1914-D and the 1922 plain with the weak reverse.....i am just trying to make sure i have what i have.....the guy i bought the set from said he thought it was fake and cut out of the feild, but it is raised....and it looks ok to me......but i need to know, so i don't sell someone a fake. soon i hope to have bags of mixed circ and unc wheaties to offer to people at a fair rate to look for rpm's.....right now i have about 35lbs of wheaties......i will post pics of some coins on monday...
