I received from the bank today. Any thoughts on the damage to the coin. Could this have happened at the Mint or during packaging of the rolls?
Thanks and have a great day.

I see a mirrored imprint of CENT from his forehead?

I'm not sure what's going on. The digs on the rim might be a clue.

Maybe several cents got sandwiched in a machine? Just a SWAG.

If there were more extensive "damage", then i would thing clash, but this is too much, in too little space. PMD, like my local garage, or basement.

It's post-strike damage. It could have occurred in the Mint when coins are crushed together accidentally. Such crushing incidents will leave a "pseudo-brockage" (false brockage) on the participating coins. That's what I see on your coin. The damage can also occur in coin-sorting and coin-wrapping facilities that roll the coins for the banks.

Thanks Ed, Dick, and Mike that is what I had expected it to be due to the mirrored image on the obverse and reverse. It will be another Lincoln Cent for my kids to look at. Has anyone else found one of the new DDO's on the 2011 Cent? Just seen it listed on dvnmagazine Yesterday. Thanks Again for Your help.

Neat! I hadn't heard about it yet.
Where does it show and how strong is it?
I'm assuming like most it's a P mint?

It looks to be compared to the 2006 P DDO.It is a 2011 P mint. The date and liberty shows the major part of the doubling. Here is the direct link to the pictures of the coin. http://www.dvnmagazine.com/news.html
This is definately one to be on the look out for.

Check this one out on Ebay, looks like there is one for sale already. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200620389873&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
It appears to be the same coin, the pictures aren't real clear though.

Could be the same but the pics are too small to see clearly.

Nice to see that the mint is still making some doubled dies so people have something to look for. Smile

I have looked at the originalm post pictures, and at the link od the DDO.
I have also read Mike's post, but, something just don't set right. I normally would not go this route, but the mgnified images, and the extreme effect left on the field, and a lessor effect on the forehead, may just be an "impression", due to not enough clashed die experience with the nre REV. Possible 'stacked coins, yes. the REV indicated that. The lack of anything in the corresponding ares on the REV, leaves me with the thoufht that a big vice, or hydraulic press couls make that strong an impression, in that small area<(field), i something was concentrating the force in that area, such as a pointed object.
Not well explained, but, (the Feebay seller with 22 points, and, on his DDO, don't tell me much, much less the one originally posted. It just don't gel. I am sorry Mike, but sometimes I have to trust my gut feeling, and wait.
Are there any new ones in the "D"?
