Hi all, been a while since I have posted here, but with my present/past health issues have not had the time to really do any searching or posting. My question is.
If I were to send some of my doubled die cents to ANACS and match them up the CC numbers corrosponding to these, would they slab them using the CC numbers? If not which reputable 3rd grading party would you recommend?
I know in the end that it will more then likely cost me more then the coin is worth to get them slabbed, but feel that having them slabbed and not justs in the flips will help perserve them better, which for me is worth the cost.
Thanks Dave

I had them do some a few years ago.
I've also had ones I sent in that I used a coppercoins number on the form and got back a Coneca number or FS number or even some the just said "Doubled Die" which I guess meant they agreed it was a DDO but were not sure of an attribution. If you really care about what they use you might send a note or call and talk to them.
I sent these in for "verification" so I gave them the numbers on the form. It might be different if I didn't give the numbers and asked them to do the attribution. If that's what you'll do I'd suggest calling them first and talking to them about how to get specific numbers. I used "verification" because it's cheaper than attribution.

Ed, I was unaware that what they did for you, was even in the realm of possibility.
The method makes sense, ans the value of the coin id apparent, by grade, and the number is related to a known source. That makes sense. i don't like slabbing, for the sake of slabbing. it is too egotistic, if you unsderstamnd what i mean. (I'm not even sure I understand what i want to say).

I had some slabbed once also. In the end it was just to preserve what I felt were some of my favorite finds. Not sure if it helps increase the value at all but they sure look nice with the verification of the variety and the grading. I will note I think they put the wrong verification on one which I found a little humorous.

I've seen many slabs with mistakes.
Wrong attributions, wrong dates, wrong mintmarks.
I'm sure they screw up grades as well but we might only think "what were they thinking" and not know it was a mistake.
All of the TPGs do make some mistakes.

Ed, I have to agree, to a certain extent, but I don't think the TPG's should make mistakes, unless they stand vbehind their "call", and if it issued with the error, then re-slabbed, at their expense.
