Is the 9-9-9 Plan fair, and to whom?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/herman-cains-misleading-pitch-for-the-999-plan/2011/10/12/gIQAHszPgL_blog.html

And what will it lead to

http://www.minnpost.com/businessagenda/2011/10/14/32418/herman_cain_who_came_up_with_his_999_plan

Greed is out there, just putting a different face on it

Romney says The Occupy Wall Street causing "Class Warfare" Thats Funny.
When Warren Buffet, by his own admission says that he pays less taxes then his $38,000 a yr. secretary.
When Exxon pays only 17.6% of its profits

And the amazing thing is that Cains crazy plan would give Warren Buffet a HUGE tax cut and increase tax for lower incomes!

Quote:

"According to the Tax Policy Center, households with incomes below $30,000 would have, on average, between 16% and 20% less in after-tax income than they do today.

By contrast, households making more than $200,000 would see their after-tax income grow by between 5% and 22% on average."

"95% of those with more than $1 million in income would receive an average tax cut of $487,300"

So far, I have come to the conclusion that "if it ain't broke", don't fix it!
I am able to get bny on what i gross each month, and actually have a couple dollars left over. They want to put me in the poor-house! It is ione thing to live below the poverty level, and make ends meet, but thay aren't happy, that some of us are able to do that, so take al the money!
A flat tax, that taxes everyone equally, by percent of the gross income, is fair, to everyone, (ecven if they have been paying a whole lot less that their secretary). No excemptions, no deductions, nothing!
Consumers tax is DOUBLE taxation, and like I said, before, we fought a war over the same thing in 1812. Do we have to do it again in 2012?

The problem with the politicians is they pick something we know isn't perfect and is broken then they say "I'll change it" but whatever they change isn't what needed fixing.

Some examples, they say the border is not working and it's true but their change is "open it completely".
Or the tax system is too complicated and unfair so they come up with changes that make it more complicated and better for whoever backed them with money to get elected.

I think a "flat" tax would have been best from the start but since the system is already set up as it is I'm afraid of huge changes because nobody can tell if those changes will put us deeper in a hole or what. I'd rather see more measurable changes like eliminate most deductions and lower to overall tax rates. That way it's easy to measure the result and know what it will cause.

The other risk is each word can be a trick. Most tax changers use the term "flat" and "fair" almost interchangeably but in their definition the "fair" tax is 100% consumption tax and it's a double tax on anyone's savings or money from property sales.
Flat is flat for all incomes, I'd rather see a flat tax with several levels but flat as far as no deductions and no tax shelters.

An interesting point is that in the depression the few wealthy had most of the money and the depression came. Now again the few richest have most of the money and again things are going bad.
In between the last depression and this depression one thing was different, if you go back to the 50s the rich had a much much bigger tax than today. (someone can correct me but I think I read that in the 50s the highest taxed people paid 80%+ and there were still some very rich people)
I think that something in between those rates and today's rate would be better. So I'm not for a fully flat tax, I still think the richest few can pony up a higher percent than the poorest.
If a billionair has 50 billion instead of 100 billion he's still doing great.

I don't think the tax system should do what it does now which is giving money in credits to some people. Even the poor should pay some tax. Nobody should be filing taxes to get money back that they never paid in.
It's a tax system not a money distribution system.

Smile

{It's a tax system not a money distribution system.}

You have defined the difference between the "fair tax system, and the welfare system. Neither one is fair!

And yes, BOTH need "fixing", bad!

No matter what happens, it is going to be the same old thing!
The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. The onl;y difference is that there is more poor, each time, and fewer rich.
I wonder who the rich one will be, when he has all the money, and all the rest are like me, below the poverty level?
Nice future we have!
AND, until we actually decide to do something about it, we will still have it: SNAFU!

They have been getting rich off our backs.
