The coppercoins.com forum, open for business since 04 July, 2004, will be shut down permanently on 01 April, 2012.
After a long, hard period of consideration I have thought through the redesign of coppercoins.com and all the things that will come to this site, and there simply is not room in the plans to keep a forum running that has only sparse activity.
I had a discussion with Brad Podraza, owner and proprietor of the Lincoln Cent Resource (LCR) forum, and he and I agree that since his forum promotes coppercoins and is basically serving the exact same purpose as the coppercoins forum, there's no need to have both of them open. So when the coppercoins.com forum shuts down, the Lincoln Cent Resource will become the official forum of coppercoins.com.
This isn't a matter of defeat from a competitor. The LCR has always promoted the best interest of all clubs, both online and otherwise. They have essentially turned in the direction of coppercoins as their listing system of choice, and promote coppercoins constantly. It only makes sense to combine efforts and allow them to handle the interactive forum while coppercoins centers all its focus on redeveloping the website into the powerhouse it can be.
Brad and I are working on a way to try archiving all the post data here on the coppercoins forum so it can continued to be used and read for educational and historic purposes. Whether or not this can be accomplished is yet to be seen, but we will do our best to preserve the thousands upon thousands of posts people have made on this forum since it opened seven years ago.
I encourage all the members who still check in here to go over and join the LCR. That forum is everything the coppercoins forum ever was and more. You will like it a lot - I do.
Here's a link to go join:

This is not a time to be sad, it is a time for celebration! Coppercoins is growing, and the LCR is a very nice forum. Both sites are working together and are helping build a brighter future in Lincoln cent collecting!

Still, sad. This is the second major forum to close this month. Though I did not post too often recently, I always enjoyed reading about everyone who did post.

Change is not always a bad thing, especially if we look back on the fabulous contribution other changes have meant to us. I have to say Chuck that if you had not created Coppercoins I probably would not still be collecting today. The insights and advice I picked up from the wonderful people on this site kept me motivated when my searches were coming up empty. Fellow members also offered words of encouragement and support to fellow members going thru tough times. Hard to believe how I have felt a wonderful bond to completely anonymous people over the last 10 years or so.
None of it would have been possible without the wonderful creator of Coppercoins. I hope you look back on the forum with nothing but pride and joy.

I second that. Chuck and his site have done more to promote die varieties on Lincoln cents than any other. There may be other sites that handle Lincoln's and others, but this one is 100% reliable. And it is great to have access to the creator. Don't be a stranger, Chuck. It was great meeting you and your family years ago. Thank you for everything; the signed books and the dedication. See you on the other side.

I also am sorry to hear about the site shutting down.I haven't been around much lately due to being out of work since last May and have been focusing on my auction sites to make a living and have just read this thread.I have been stopping by to read some posts but didn't notice this until just now.I have learned MANY things about coppers and the different errors and varieties that I wouldn't have gained the knowledge without this great site and all the knowledgeable and friendly people that are here.I have made many friends along the way and will check out the new site referenced above.I want to thank Chuck and Bob for all the hard work they and others have done.It will be missed.May our paths cross and the other site.God Bless. Ken
Chuck I put your name in as a reference on the new site and it said you aren't a member???

Well it's getting close to the end of the forum.
It's been a great place to learn and meet nice people.
Just saying goodbye to everyone!

Good Bye Ed. You might try out LCR forum. It was tough to get around at first, but I eventually got the hang of it.

I hate "good-bys", but in this case it is even worse, because here are the few friends I have had close by, for a long time, and I will miss you all! Even Coop!
Maybe I'll see you there....
Dick

I frequent there a lot. Working on my first 1,000 posts. No where near that yet. I don't pad my posts. Some do, but if my comment isn't needed, I don't type it.
I have found the ugliest cent today?

No way, Coop! Ugly cents are the ZINCOLNS!
All the rest just show a little wear, or pitting.

I am a member of both, but spend 90% of my time, "currently" on WWW.Canadiancoppercoins.com.
I am doing die marriages research, and trying to identify some of the varieties on the 1859N9 large cent. it is loaded!
There is an online catalog, similar to the one we used here, and was so much help, with the US cents. It is still in the "building stage, but most of the oinfo is there.
It is WWW.vickycents.com, also a free site.
I hated to see this forum go, but what has to happen, WILL happen. We have to make adjustments.
