I domn't know what the "Robinhood tax", involves, but if it is the 9-9-9, no way! 20% tax on me would force me to leave this country, because I am well below the poverty level, in gross income, and a 20% tax would mean I couldn't afford to live here.
A Flat tax, that covers everyone, without exception, and it would not have to be much, to be effective.
To give you an idea of it's application, I was running a grocery store in Mexico, in my wife's name, and paid 3% tax on the gross income. It did not affect the operation of the store a bit. I did not derive any income from the store, due to my pension, so the store either worked, or it went broke. It worked, and did a nice job.
3% may not be much, at first, up here, but in a short time it would come to more that you would realize. The difference in about 3% of the income being taken free of tax, while the rest share the load is not what I would call fair, as it today. It IS time to make some changes, in many areas!

Dick,

3% would be great but according to the articles that 999 tax changes after a few years into consumption only and it's 30% and the news said even 30% won't cover spending so unless they reduce spending it would be 40% plus all existing excise taxes and state taxes so it's more like 50% as people pay for their shopping.

I expect the publics response won't be good:

I have a solution, lets keep the tax rates as they are and make the ones that create this 14 trillion dollar debt pay for it, even if it means taking everything they own (since that money was probably ill gotten) including oil companies, banks, elected officials etc.....

I second the motion, because You know that They would take everything We have without blinking an eye about it. Actually taking everything is already in motion with the rise in the price of everything We purchase daily. They need a taste of their own medicine.... Exclamation Laughing

Bank of America has shown its true colors.
since the $5 usage fee for a debit card did not work, they switched tatics so we would wind up paying for it in the long run.

Ed, that 3% was a business tax. The population don't pay income tax, (or didn't). They do pay property, (real estate) taxes.
The flat rate, what ever it would be, and equal to all, without exception would be fair. not like the system in place.
The consumers tax is another "bright idea', from the same SOB's that vote themselves a pay raise, while the retirees and those on SS lose the little they received to 'catch up with the cost of living.
Bottom line: (for me); apply the 9-9-9, or 20% consumers tax, and you force me to give up my Veteran's coverage, in all forms, and move to Mexico!
Lincoln had the right idea, when he gave "the Gettysburg speech! it is time the PEOPLE took over, and let the politicians know that they are there by OUR choice, not theirs!

This person has the right ideal.
Lobbiest, with the backing of their clients, have created large loopholes for these companies to pay little or nothing in taxes.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Biggest-Public-Firms-Paid-nytimes-969088864.html?x=0&.v=1

Write your elected official telling them that they are there because WE voted them in and it is about time that they do the will of the PEOPLE not big business.

Tell them to CLOSE all loopholes that benefit these companies from not paying their fair share of taxes.

Here is a list of your elected officials with phone numbers etc.

http://www.conservativeusa.org/mega-cong.htm

Tell them WE ARE MAD AS HELL and if they WILL NOT DO THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE, THE NEXT ONE WILL

I'm a retired Engineer - you can only build an earth dyke up so high to hold back the water before a breach comes and the water seeks its own level.

It's the same with an economy and business cycles that typically run in booms and busts. If you do magical things to avoid the bust, then eventually the big big bust comes and all the parts and players "seek their own level".

It's a yeng and yang type thing.

I think you are mixing apples with oranges. Your "looky yonder" video of the burning or great American flag has nothing to do with the original topic of out of control Government spending and Wall Street antics.

We are still heading toward an economic day of reckoning.

Flag burning Liberal-Democrats are the last ones to realize this.

Flag waving, gun loving, Conservative-Republicans are more hip to the situation…. so I don’t get you reply?
