I came across a coin in my pennies. I dont have scan ability so this is the best description i can do. the coin is copper, the size of a american penny. On one side there is a picture of a crown, under the crown are 2 symbols the left one looks like 2 crossed hammers, and the right one looks like a eastern symbol ,chineese or something like that. On the reverse side in an arc on the perimeter it says 50 ORE-NOREC-1999 . Below that is a picture I can't identify but I would call it a squigly line modern art interpretation of a bicycle with another symbol above it resembling the letter J. hopefully i will get my scanner fixed or replaced soon so i can add pictures.

It's a 50 ore coin from Norway. The thing on the left is a "stylized animal", according to my Krause book.

The crossed hammers are the mint mark for Kongsberg, where the coin was made.

Not sure what the other symbol is... maybe the symbol for King Harald V.

Here are two pics: **BEWARE** the pages are written with Cyrilic letters, so who knows where their server is or who's watching.***

If you do a google 'images' search on "norway 50 ore" you'll see the thumbnails at the lower right corner.

You're certainly welcome. I enjoy trying to identify coins. I'm not always successful but I give it a good try.
