Master die doubling exists for all mints including the proof cents of 1972. Most typical pick up points are the inside of the B of LIBERTY, the N of IN, and the U of TRUST, although the doubling often shows in many other areas. There is no premium value for this doubling - it is on over half of all cents made in 1972.

If the doubling in the motto is all in one direction, and that doubling extends to the L of LIBERTY, you could have something. There are a couple of known doubled dies for the 1972S proof obverse, but 99% of all I have seen are the classic master die doubling, which is what most of yours likely are.

Check the direction of spread in the motto - if ALL of the doubling is on the same sides of the letters, then you need to have those checked out.

If the "N" of "IN" appears to have been retooled, if the inside top of the "B" of "LIBERTY" is doubled - don't bother...it's master die doubling.
