Found this 43 S with what appears to be a second eyelid north. Haven't been able to match it with anything here or on Coneca. Maybe the extra eyelid is a die chip? It has two unmistakable die clash marks which I'm sure would be listed as markers somewhere, doubling of the bowtie but nothing else of significance that I can see.

Very nice doubled eyelid there. It is not yet on this site that I know of, and I do not have one like it. The die clash marks in front of and behind the head are nice markers. Good find!

Hi dpb,
Outstanding! That's a nice doubled eyelid. I checked my files and though I have 6 listings for doubled eyelids for that date -- only one is similar to yours but not even near as strong. New one to me. Great die markers too!
Congratulations! That's a good -un!
Happy Hunting!
Regards,
Billy

I'm thinking this may even be a tripled eyelid. Chuck and Billy....did you notice the light hubbing under the primary eyelid?
Is it there, or just my imagination?

I think the shadows are playing with you. The eyelid to the south is the secondary for the lower eyelid which belongs to the strongly doubled eyelid to the north. The shadow is just die wear, in my assessment from what I can see.

Gotcha Chuck! I see and understand. I never even thought about the lower lid. That's why I asked! Thanks!

Bob,
There's a possibility of a tripled eyelid. I see the strong eyelid north with its secondary corresponding remnant portion way south. Those two remnant points would make the strong eyelid north.
Then there is a possibility of another eyelid (weak) just under the main eyelid making it just south. Of course -- it could be shadow affect.
Dpb -- I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of putting some arrows on your photo to illustrate.
Dpb -- I also have a question for you. In some of these stronger ones I have examined in the past -- additional doubling is visible within Lincoln's inner ear. Do you see anything in that area dpb?
Regards,
Billy

Billy,
The arrow you have listed as the extra eyelid south (weak) was what I was referring to. When I wrote my question yesterday, I had not even thought about the corresponding lower lid until Chuck brought it up. I agree with his assesment also, but something tells me this other south eyelid is not a shadow. I have a few strong North eyelids including the coppercoins die #4, and others. Maybe if I have one of these specimens, I can have a better look. Let me know if you come up with anything else.
