I've never seen such a large mint mark before. It's built like a volcano - large base and tapers towards the top. The first photo was taken to best show the rings around it and the other photo was to best show the fields around the mint mark and the indentations found there. And look at how shallow the date is struck! What can you guru's tell me about this one?
...and do ya suppose this could be an unknown D/D?

Looks like a very worn hub and a new chisel from that year. Don't know why the date and MM would show such a varition if that was not the case? Just speculating here. _________________ Richard S. Cooper
