I have piles of wheaties that I need to store and was looking for tips on the best places to buy coin tubes. Best meaning cheapest. Is it better to order on the web or just buy at a store? I like the square white color plastic tubes vs. the clear round ones.

Here is a link to where I usually get all of my supplies from. Whether or not they are the cheapest...I don't know, but I have always had good experiences with them and the materials are top notch. Right now, a case of 100 square tubes for cents is $31.00...normally $40.00.

Just click the link for the square tube holders on the left hand column.

Matt: As a word of warning, I find some of the square tubes that are soft contain PVC and discolor coins in time. That has been true with some of the ones I've stored quarters in. End ones turn hazy and I'm sure with time turn to crap. Find the square tubes that are harder. Not sure of the brand, but they don't discolor coins. I've bought the square ones and have a lot of them I won't use because of their problem. But I find the clear ones work a lot better. Expecially the older ones. I had some one give me a bag of them to use and I've have found used tubes at shows. They usually work OK. They may have tape on them or old stickers on them but they were inexpensive when I could find them and one person gave me a grocery bag of them, so I'm set for quite a while. Sometimes the cheapest buy is not the best in the long run.

I checked my supplier.....I can get marcus PVC free (box says made of inert materals) tubes for $15 a box of 100...but these are the round ones...I can get quarters for that same price.....and since marcus dosen't make dime tubes for some reason...those are $21 a box....I will call them and see if they carry the square tubes.....

Great. Just got a few that were crap from a local and shop wanted everyone to benefit from my disappointment. I did find a use for one of them. They make excellent light holders for then end of my lighting system to focus the two beams in to one beam, but that is about as good a they get....

thanks for the feedback. I have some of the Coin Safe tubes that I liked so I will buy more of those. Just wanted to make sure the price I was paying was in the ball park.

Lucky2: Make sure they are totally dry before putting on the lids as any moisture trapped inside will spot the coins you want to save in them. Probably best to dry wipe them if they are that dirty with a rolled paper towel slightly moistened to remove the dust and let dry thoughly before putting on the caps.
