I received this in change a couple of days ago. It is nice and shiny. It looks like a 1969S-1MM-003 when I compared it to the photo in “Looking Through Lincoln Cents.” I am starting to become interested in varieties.

(Sorry my photos can’t be better.)

imahik: just got what your ID name was. Wonder why I didn't see that before.......
Your mention on poor images. check out the Photography forum and if you still have problems fell free to ask. I learned something this week by experimention that really works for what I wanted. So keep experimenting, even try the unconvential, maybe you get another idea to solve a different/same problem. Always feel free to ask. Enjoy your new book.

Imahik - Sorry I cannot verify your find with that small an image, but I'm happy to hear you've become interested in finding die varieties. Might I suggest finding a few rolls of 1960D or 1961D cents to practice with--there are a lot of nice RPMs in both of those years, and the rolls come at less than $1.50 each.

Chuck,
Buying some rolls sounds like fun. Where would you suggest I go to make my purchases?

A local dealer would be a start, then a local show. If you can't find any that way, let me know and I will try to get some together for you that haven't been searched through before.

Dennis,
There will probably be a show near you sometime relatively soon. You might check here:

Recommend you try to get "shotgun" rolls (red paper w/ the open ends) because those have a good chance at not being previously searched.

Good luck and happy hunting!

The Original Bank Wrapped (OBW) are fun to get when you can find them. But I've found varieties in tubed rolls. At a coin show I usually check out for rolls first, then check dealer stock of BU older coins. You can find some nice ones there and they are usually BU or else they wouldn't card them. I usually don't tell them what I'm looking for, just buying for my collection. I got a 1934 DDO for $10 and it now on the site.

It was just a BU coin to him, so I took it off his hands. Smile

So look around. I've even found Coins in antique stores. Got a few varieties there also. But check you local coin store and see if he has any rolls of Cents. Sometimes if they don't have any, someone will bring some in and they will be interested in buying them as they will now know they have a customer looking for that item.

Thanks guys. I was hoping the answer wouldn’t be eBay. Now I have a mission. I am going to Phoenix next month and I know of two coins shops there. There is one good one here.

Thanks again, guys.

Sorry, Coop. I haven’t been looking at the message boards much lately. I will be in Mesa later this month. The coin shop I was talking about is on Main St. across from the Firestone. I don’t remember the name of it, but the fellow who runs it is really great for rookies like me.

That shop is where I bought this:

I have never had one of these before. I wish it had a date on it.
Dennis (I’m a hick Smile )
