I see in Chuck's book a pic of a 34P DDO. I was wondering if there are any markers noted for this die to check for. Thanks in advance.

If you read the narrative of this die on the site and in the book, you will note that this die is very rare. We have no pics for the site yet. The pics from the book were taken of a cleaned and corroded coin. This coin is so unique, that die marker photos are not necessarily needed. If you have it, there is no doubt about which die it is.
As soon as we can get one in which to take good photos, it will be put on the site. Until then, the photos of the die in the book are the next best thing....OK??

Hi Bob, the reason I asked is because I came across a 34 that when held at a good angle shows "something", but the coin has an unfortunate hit in the area I am looking at. I can't really capture it in a pic, but here is a try. There is a hit where I really don't want one. That is why I was wondering if there were any markers that could let me just put this one back in the jar.

I see what you are referring to, and unfortunately, the rarity of this die precludes us from offering any more info at this time. I don't know if Chuck has one or not, or if any of our other members might have one. From looking at your pictures, I really can't tell either. The area below the 4 of the date would be the area I would focus on, since the hit is below the 3. I don't see anything that lets me believe it is this die though, but without having it in hand, I can't say for sure.

Hey coop, how are you? I was referring to the 1934P-1DO-002. I guess finding one of those would feel like hitting LOTTO.

You never know what you'll receive. Anything is possible. You have found some unbelivable coins. If they are there, there there. (never used a sentence with three theres' before.) [Must be the story the the "three theres'?" LOL]

This thread is kind of old but.......
I just purchased one of these for 50 bucks. Upon receipt, it definitly shows the markings below the date that match those in Cherrypicker's but fainter....maybe a later die state or worn from circulation. Coneca has been no help and gives no markers. I plan to send this coin in for authentication and grading to one of the major slabbers. I believe it will grade EF40, 45 if not for a scratch on the left wheat ear.
Question - I would like to send it to coppercoins for photos since you have none as yet. Is it better for photos to send it here before slabbing? I am willing do that as I use this site on a regular basis and desire to contribute whatever possible.

First of all...if you picked up one of these for fifty bucks...congratulations That's one hell of a deal. There are very few known. I would love to see it and photograph it for the site. It is a lot easier to take pictures of the coin before it is slabbed. It enables us to focus better on the area in question, and we won't pick up any marks that might be on the slab. Since you say that this coin grades at EF or so, I still may not be able to find markers on it, but I will sure give it a try.
If you are interested in sending it to me for attribution and inclusion on the site, just email me at bobp@coppercoins.com, and I will give you the info you need so we can get it done. Once again, congrats on a great buy.
