Found this 1973D. Hard to see but looks like more than one split serif S/W maybe three?
Any help with this one.

It looks like there is at least some chance that there are three very closely spread punchings there that show as hairline splits in the lower serif, but even if it is actually doubling it's too minor to show on most coins minted with the die, thus isn't something we would list.

Thanks,
That's the answer I thought I would get due to not finding it listed anywhere I looked.

It's really not a matter of whether it has been listed before - there are plenty of die varieties out there that haven't been listed and should be. The point here is that you can barely even see this one with 30X, and if it indeed happens to be an RPM it would be too minor to detect on most coins minted with this die, thus is not a candidate for listing.

Thanks, I've got a lot to learn yet and I really need to get some better equipment and a few more reference books. Other than this site I don't have much to go by right now but I'm working on it. My best view of coins is through my 6.31 digital while holding a 20MM telescope lens to the camera lens, crude but somewhat effective. Hopefully the more I can learn the less I will ask for some of the obvious answers. I do appreciate your responses they are a great help in my learning process. I am hopeing to be able to give some answers in the future as well ask for them.
Thanks again ,
Steven

Steven,
One of the primary reasons for this site is to address one of the issues you just stated (probably without realizing it). When it comes to published materials, there is little out there to compare with what we have here. It would be nice if the coppercoins site was all encompassing, but as you know, this will always be a work in progress. We list dies on a near daily basis, and keeping up with what we have is a daunting task at best. Hence, another reason why Chuck and I are in the process of taking a break from the attributions to put a new and improved coppercoins.com on line. There will be educational stuff as well as a new look, new dies, and other stuff we are hashing out right now. I am sure you will like what's coming. This forum has developed into one of the best places to meet new folks, pass on tidbits of information, and help interested folks improve their collecting. I don't think Chuck ever realized how big this would become when he started it 6 years ago.
Your 'crude' way of looking at coins is a start. Upgrading can be expensive, but some of the fine folks here get great pictures from what they have. As long as we can see what you are seeing in your pics, I am sure we can help you out just fine!

Yes Bob and I do realize I have a crude way of looking at coins but I plan on sticking with this. I just seemed to be hooked. I spend hours every day looking at coins and looking for references. I have been tossing around the idea of selling some of what I have and try to but a microscope and I will be studying on what kind and probably ask questions in the future on what kind would work well with coins. But until then I am very happy and thankful that this site is here and with very helpful people. I am sure whatever the work in progress for this site is it will be outstanding. Thanks for all the responses and no matter what the answers are that I get they add to my learning experiences and I welcome them.

Steven
