Now... as Im sure that most of you know, living in S Florida during the hurricane season has its down-sides. |
This happens to be my second hobby.....running from hurricanes. I live 15 miles outside of Key West. Wilma put 3' of water in my house last year and now my third hobby is home repair.

That was a weird storm Gabe. We thought the worst was over, wind dropped to about 30mph then the water came up. Our entire island was under. Then it went down and came up again!
I have to wonder how folks are going to afford Florida anymore. My insurance rates have gone from ridiculous to absurd and I know your's must be similar since the entire state is considered a hurricane zone. I see lots of new for sale signs around here.

Seems like living ANYWHERE in Florida or on the gulf coast has its down side during hurricane season Gabe. Don't you think we have had enough of this the past few years? Maybe we can keep it in the regular alphabet this year

Lol Bob. All of Fl is in danger.
dpb- I know what you are saying. The winds died down and the sky turned blue, and we got enough time to move shingles that had blown from our roof to our cars. Also, we were able to move a huge piece of our fencing that had fallen.
The 2nd part of the storm was worst. Winds were clocked at about 120mph at Weston, with gusts unknown due to instrument failure.
For the past 2 months, we have installed hurricane shutters to most of the house. Fixing the house will take me more months, and by then, another hurricane might strike us. It could be a never ending cycle of hurricane damage and house repair...

Hobbies are so numerous I am not sure i can list them all. I have been an official coin collector for over 40 years and probably 20 years before that. I love wood working and have built some furniture, photography, antique restoration, publishing, printing, genealogy, inventing (nothing to make me rich or famous). I am currently operating a Coin Library for collectors to come in and research coins and selling some old stuff I found laying around the house to make ends meet.~lucky2

I work too much to have time for a real hobby other than coins. I don't really have time for coins either, but I make do. I used to read a lot, used to play pool and throw darts, but heck, I'm one of the few who can say I like my job...
