Ice breaker...

I thought I'd post an ice breaker in some of the categories to give a decent idea of what I was thinking of when I created each of the forums.

This particluar forum is for discussion about current events, usually not related to coins. It's basically your political soap-box, catastrophic weather event reporter, new election results board, announcement board for new babies in the family....all the stuff that's current and might not fit into a different topic area. I wanted to give a few different areas where people could post about darn near anything and not have subject constraints to worry about.

Given that this is th 4th of July, I thought I would post a bit about what it means to me:

I am a veteran of the US Air Force and had my opportunity to put my life on the line for my country a number of times. I know quite a number of other folks personally who made that risk and lost. This day is a day to remember the fact that the gutsy men who started this country were standing up against oppressive laws, taxation without representation, and being drawn into political battles and wars that were not related to their new life in the New World. At any cost, they wanted to be free.

I honor those who made that choice for me, even though it was over 150 years before I was born. What they did changed the course of the planet forever, and it's my opinion that it was for the better. Be proud that you live in the free world! Enough of my soap box...now think of some current events to post about and get started!
