2006 finally got some..COINS

Found a bank with 2 boxes. First roll not even a die chip. second roll 7 of what looks like the 1DO-003. Not sure though. They show the notches in the T & Y but with what I have to look at them I can't see it on the R. The rest of the description appears to be the same. I took a lot of pictures but this is the only one clear enough to post. Looking at the ear on these it seems to be enlarged a bit also. No die cracks. Got a another roll with one of these showing on the end. Suggestions on what to do with it please. Leave it rolled or bust the roll?

Congratulations Steven. I can't tell what you have found from the picture of the date, but from your description of the coin it seems that you have found something. You should know that the 1DO-003 is known between some of us who have seen it as the Fishy Lincoln because of an effect I call fish-scaling of Lincolns beard, particularly in the throat and whole jaw area. Look at the photos of 1DO-003 here at coppercoins and see if you see this same "fish-scaling" effect in your coins. If so, then look for a die crack that starts on Lincoln's brow ridge and curves upward and to the left on his forehead. The date in these photos should match yours in that they should have a strong shift in a north-east/south-west direction.
But look for "fish-scaling" then let us know what you see. Or take a photo of that if you can.

There are no die cracks on any of those I have found. Not sure what you mean by the fish-scale but took this photo of the beard. It looks the same to me as the one listed but I am not nearly as experienced at this as many of you are at this. Most of the letters in trust show the same type of enlargement or shift in the letters as does the date.

Here's a couple more pictures of the same coin with a little different lighting. With out the die cracks would this be an earlier die stage maybe?

Very well could be an earlier die state of that variety. The one on the site is an MDS example. The date looks good too. Are you able to match any of the reverse markers? It does look like 003 from here Steven. If it is congrats on a nice find.

The date and notching in TY are a match to mine. Your notching seems a little more defined than mine so I concur with Bob that it could very well be an earlier die state without the die crack on Lincoln's brow. Congratulations!
