The one I found today is an Alabama Cent.

I've handed all my squashed Cents to my grandson and now he got my old scope and looking for stuff on Cents. I say stuff as the first few (hundred possibly) you see that catch your eye is not really collectable. But he has a good teacher to help him find the good things.

These cents with the States stamped in them were very popular in the 1970's. I have a complete set of them somewhere around here. It is funny that you should put this one on the forum because I pulled a 1976 cent with Michigan stamped on it about 3 weeks ago.
It's a great time to get your grandson involved in the search. What you teach him today will help carry the hobby in the years to come. As soon as my grand daughter is born in about 3 months, I wil probably get her a loupe with a pacifier on the end Laughing Laughing Laughing

I found some of these too.
A masonic one, a moose, Lincoln smoking a pipe etc..
The ones I like best show history such as all the Lincoln/Kennedy (found several different years mostly 1963 to 73) and also several showing the moon landing of which some are 1969 and stamped Jul 20th with the lunar lander and earth in the distance. Several 1976 with different bicentenial themes.
Neat things to give to kids.

Good point Coop. I will have to write all these suggestions down and try them out. I think I'll give her a few days after being born to get used to things before I put her to work looking for varieties Laughing

I've found a couple of the state-stamped cents (Stuckey's??) and have a few other neat ones, but the one I like the most is an S mint wheat cent that somebody took some kind of tool to. The coin is almost completely demolished, but the mintmark is perfect. If I remember, I'll take a pic after I get home (still on vacation, return home tomorrow) and post it.

Ok, here it is.

And a closeup of the mintmark.

Apparently coppercoins.com and roadrunner don't communicate very well. You'll have to click the "GO" button after clicking the link.

Wavysteps2003,
When the page that says not authorized comes up click on the green GO button to right of the address bar.

Almost looks like it was made by the head of a torx screw.
