I found a 2005P that is a perty solid ms68 business strike except it has a long hideous die crack with a chip or two in it and runs along the top of Lincoln's head. How would this die crack affect the coin's grade?

It shouldn't affect the coins grade, but one of the things they look for is eye appeal. Many coins in later die state with cracks and things have been graded nicely.
If the strike is nice, there are no or few marks, the surface and luster are nice, and the eye appeal is good, then it should grade the MS68.
