Hello everyone.
My name is Mike
I am brand new to this forum. I have been collecting on and off for many years now. I Concentrate mainly on Lincoln cents. I go through at least two fifty dollar bags (from the coin counters at the bank) every week. Recently I was checking out a 1970S cent and when I flipped it over I found that many Letters of the outer devices were nicely doubled as well as the left side of the memorial building.
I don't see anything like that listed on Coppercoins.com. Is this common, or is it worth more scrutiny by more educated eyes than mine?
Thanks in advance.
Mike 'Vac'

Mike. Welcome. This is the best site on the net for lincoln cent collectors. If you have a digital camera it would help if you posted a picture.

Hi Mike,
Welcome to the coppercoins forum! We hope to see your posts here often.
As far as your 1970S coin goes, we do not have any 1970S double die reverses in our files.
I am aware of only one doubled die reverse for the date, and it is on a Proof coin. It exhibits some extra thickness, but no doubling as you suggest. 1970 coins do have many many instances of strike/mechanical doubling, with some of it being pretty strong. My first guess would be that your coin suffers from strike doubling, and therefore has no premium associated with it.
On the other hand, there can always be a first time for anything. I, and others here would better be able to tell if you could get a pic of it and post it here.
Once again...welcome. Great people and knowledgeable collectors lurk here. I am sure we can help.
