I was reading in pocket change by ken porter about the 1955 no v d b, this is a new one on me anyone have more info on this.

My guess is that it is nothing more than a filled or worn die. They let the 1955 dies get so bad that there are millions in late or very late die state that are worn to the point where a lot of the design elements aren't visible any more.

Exactly what I was thinking is what bob said...just very late die state dies, as is VERY common for the Philly mint cents of the mid-50s. Sometime these very minor and very slight oddities are hyped and blown up to be something they are not, and are considered "scarce" errors. Partly because Breen listed them as such, and partly because of misinformation and lack of education on the part of dealers who have the money to advertise such misinformation. This was the case with the reported 1989 "missing VDB" cents that sold for up to $50 each back in the heyday of their hype. Now it's very difficult to get anyone to bother paying attention to them - which should have been the case in the first place.
