I have only been collecting coins for 40 plus years and buying on Ebay for at least 6 and maybe more. This week I pulled a newbie trick and bought something on ebay and forgot to check shipping. I am in Texas and the item is in Indiana. I purchased a Wire Magazine Rack for my Coin Reaserch Library. The Rack was $15.00 but guess what the shipping was? $111.09. I do not think that will ever happen. I have a perfect feedback of over 300 on ebay and really hate to ruin it but $111.09 will never happen. Ebay may hear about the postage scam to beat them out of money but I am waiting to see what happens with the emails I have sent to the seller. The worst that will happen is I pay the $15.00 and tell the seller to keep the Rack. On the other hand I may call Good Will or The VFW post and donate it to them if they pick it up. I am sure refuseing to give it to the VFW would go over big. LOL The bottom line is always check the postage before you make a purchase.~40 year newbie, robert

Ouch! You have to read the fine print.
Is that excessive shipping or is that the actual cost of shipping a large object?

If something like that were to happen to me I would tell them what part of my anatomy they could kiss. My online reputation at a crappy auction site isn't worth $100 to me.
Personally I believe eBay should have button click shipping calculation ONLY and take the fee for shipping out of the seller's hands. The seller can add the cost of packing materials to the item if they get so bound up over a 50 cent envelope or a $5 roll of tape.
I truly think eBay's days are numbered. It used to be a great place to go for a lot of things, and now it's just a huge junk shop with far too many crooked sellers.

Stick to your guns, Lucky. If the seller gives you any trouble about it, mention the $111 shipping fee in his feedback or in your reply to his. Let everyone else judge for themselves

I wouldn't blame yourself for such a mistake, however, the seller is appearently the culprit here. Your best course of action is to send them the $15.00, which fullfills the contact made, and forget about it. I did that once for a coin that cost less than a dollar, but it was being shipped for a price of $11.99 ( I had thought it said $1.99).
We all live and learn and inthis case loose a bit of cash to boot.
