I have a 1944 D/S coin that ANACS certified a couple of years ago. They labelled it as OMM-1. This week I found a second OMM-1. I decided to sell one to help pay for my searching addiction. When I looked at the ANACS coin to try to judge the condition of my newest find vs. the certified coin I noticed it was not OMM-1. It is OMM-2 !!!! So now I don't think I will sell my latest find because it would be my first, unless this turns out to be a very good Saturday.

Has anyone ever returned a coin to ANACS that was certified in error? Do they charge for that?

I returned one that they had put the wrong attribution on the holder and they did fix it for no charge. I sent it back within a short time of when they did it so maybe that helped. On this coin they had put the right attribution on the packing slip but not on the coin holder. When I returned it I sent the original packing slip and a polite note explaining why I sent it back.

Give it a try and maybe they will fix it. I sent it in with a few that I was having graded so it got shipped along with them so in the end it cost nothing to get them to fix it. So far they have been fairly good to deal with.

Ed, thanks for the feedback. I just searched through my paperwork and found the packing slip and my original submission form. I was the one who started the confusion by erroneously identifying the coin as OMM# instead of #2 on my submission. I will contact ANACS to get their advice on what to do.

On the bright side I found another OMM #2 today. Not in great shape due to some corrosion but the OMM looks great.
