When a coin seller makes the auction bidder aware of the status quo of the variety coin I believe that he has met his obligation and has the perfect right to sell the coin without repercussions.

I have this exact variety (or should I say EX) coin in my collection and with a label change, there it will stay next to this one.

I agree completely BJ. Once he has met that obligation, then the bidder has all the information he should need to make an informed decision.
I also have no problem with the one guy that Garry mentioned and referenced his auction. He certainly has that right to not agree with what the 'experts' have said. Once again, he has done his part, and I agree 100% with the way he is running his auction.

Yes I was in the committee who debunked the 190D&S OMM.

Yes I do have one. I paid one cent for mine.

Furthermore, there will be sales of these thngs as genuine OMMs for many years to come, just as there are sales of 1958/7 cents slabbed by ANACS and 1972 'no VDB' cents as listed by Breen, as well as other slabbed and non-slabbed since-disproven listings by Breen. The guide he wrote is over 20 years old, and a lot of the information in that book has since been found to be less than dependable. Unfortunately some of the slabbing companies have been recognizing anything Breen wrote as gospel and have been slabbing his system for many years. Nothing anyone can do about slabs that already exist except do their homework and stop buying the debunked listings.

The problem lies in that once something is published in a book, it cannot be changed. All of the major variety guides list the 1980D&S as being genuine, because it was thought to be so until just over a month ago. The same will be true forever more because the books were published in the past - nothing anyone can do about it.
