Two things...
1. Errors and die varieties are technically different. Doubled dies are not 'errors'.
2. I can give dozens of first-hand accounts regarding searching all of your source material and not just a sampling. My best and earliest 1956D-1OM-001 came from a BU roll in which it was the solitary piece in the roll, and the last coin in the roll. Giving up after any percentage short of 100% is like tossing a pan of rocks out because you don't see gold in the first rinse. You'll never find gold without panning it out all the way. The dust usually reveals itself at the very end of the panning process...not at the beginning or middle.
