Okay, it is a tropical storm - - - - and it is headed our way - - - - and there will be wind, but most of all, there will be plenty of rain and that is just what we needed. I definitely can live with that.
Hopefully, all the storms will be similar to Alberto, but what are the odds?

I agree!! Take the rains while you can get it. Doesn't look like I will be getting anything up here as far as rainfall goes, but the waves at the beach yesterday were pretty awesome!

Man, Alberto has just exploded from a 45mph storm to a 70 mph storm. Im not saying that the wind is going to be a factor, but it will be a bit windy. One should never under estimate the wind, because when Katrina came through S Florida, most residents were shocked at how strong 75mph winds really are. But the storm is just going to be a major rain maker.
Florida needs the rain badly, and we are getting our share of it over here.

Ok, I'm just getting around to reading these posts. For those of you in FL.. hey.. you can all this rain we're getting. I'm hanging on closely to my mattress every night in case I need it to float away in. It's been pouring here for about the last three weeks. I can't wait till we get some more. It hasn't rained in at least 20 minutes now. What's going on? Oh, nevermind. I just watched the weather report. Another nasty storm headed this way shortly. Strong winds, heavy rains and 2" sized hail. Think I should bring my plants in off the balcony yet?
I manage a large apartment complex and some of our units are beginning to flood. Tenants are calling and trying to say it's OUR fault. Folks.. please.. get a grip. We're less than a half mile from the Hudson River. The drains are overflowing, the streets are flooding, the sun never shines (my hair is frizzing-bummer) the river is higher than it's ever been. Schenectady is already partially underwater-about 10 miles away, a tractor trailer truck was washed away yesterday when a road washed out with such force it washed the truck with it. Unfortunately, the man didn't survive.
For you folks wishing for rain - come on up here. Bring your buckets. We'll be happy to fill them for you. And, please, when we need those crops that have all been washed away - don't charge us an arm and a leg. I only have a pair of each, and I'll need them when I have to start swimming.

It seems to be feast or famine Mary. Although I live in Florida, we did not get anything from Alberto. We have been in the midst of a severe drought here (less than 1/2 of what we should have this year). If it were possible to swap some rainfall with some dry weather, I would gladly do that.
I do feel for you folks up in the Northeast. It seems to be a never ending rainfall for you up there. Whatever you do...stay safe, and we wish you the best with the weather.

Oh WOW - it is actually working. If ALBERTO was a tropical storm, then ERNESTO was a wimp of one. No wind, a .25 inch of rain and away it went. The worse damage - people stuck in Orlando airport because the airlines cancelled their flights, RAH for the airlines and their foresight, that should sit just as well with the poor tourist with the other stuff that they are pulling.

Yep, I put up the shutters in my house expecting a category 1 hurricane, and all we get is an afternoon shower. Im glad that it was a very weak storm, since I was worried that the forcasted 15 inches of rain would be too much for my still un-repaired roof.
