Do any of you have any luck selling your variety coins? I have rolls of RPM's and little known doubled dies. I would like to sale some of them, but don't want to give them away either. I get so over trying to sale them on ebay. Any ideas from you?
Thanks
Robert

Robert, I have found selling them on Ebay to be very inconsistent. Some coins that I think are junk end up selling for a few dollars. Others that should sell for $50 get a bid which is only half that. As long as you protect yourself with a reasonable minimum price you should be able to sell most stuff but the prices realized, even before selling fees, will usually not be what you think the value should be. Unfortunately that is probably all they are worth. If you want a point of reference I sometimes look at the prices Chuck is selling coins at on Lincolncent.com.

What is the listing fee now on Ebay? Wonder if coins would be worth selling there or not if the fees eat into the profit that much?

A cheap listing is probably around 50 cents without pictures. With pictures it gets up to 95 cents. I sold a couple of 1941 DDO's in August with a minimum price in the $20-$30 range at the total fees were $3.30. On top of that the PayPal fee was almost $2.00 so the total fees as a % of the sale price, excluding shipping, was about 11%. On a small $ item the fees eat into even more of the fee. The only consolation is 75% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

Should I list the coins here first? Do you think anyone on this site is interested?

Robert: Many here trade coins for other ones that you don't have, but a sale could be made if someone emailed each other. That would work out for those interested. My collection I have entered on a excel program. Collection and duplicates both listed. I have two. One for RPMs and one for doubled dies.

Robert List some of your coins here in "But Sell Trade" and see if you get any interest.

I've tried eBay and it works sometimes. Summer doldrums are the pits right now - not the time to use eBay!
I have accumulated a list of cents that I am trying to sell. I have contacted a few people to help me sell them on consignment or to just buy them outright. When I get a decent offer I will sell. But so far it's been a no-go.

My contrarian investor personality tells me this is a good time to buy on Ebay. With all of you guys out of the competition I might find something for a reasonable price.
