Just bought this, under market price. If you look closely, the coin is upside down in the holder. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&item=290025317125&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Looking forward to see better images on this coin. Would be a nice piece of history to look at.

Yes getting some images of this will be a priority for the forum. I am amazed that the "quality assurance process" did not catch that the coin is upside down. Here are some nice photos that show the die state progression. I think mine will be late die state.

That is a very nice pick-up. I saw an F-15 example that sold on another auction site (and I can't remember which one right now) that sold for $500. I like it!

Superior Galleries just auctioned off four of these and I saved two. They sold at more realistic prices.

I have the Franklin Press token. Not only is it upside down; the coin has alot of green color on the reverse in the recesses of the letters. Now this coin is in a new PCGS holder. Is it possible that the green color is not PVC? It is not the typical sea green colored slime. This green is more of a bright emerald green. Is it possible that the color is something else?

See, here is an Indian with "nice color" that exhibits the sea green PVC.

This colonial shows some green color too on the reverse, that is closer to the color in mine, but is a little more pervasive than mine.

I'm guessing the first coin IS cleaned and the reverse has some residue of cleaner remaining in the depper recesses that didn't get wiped out.

The second one is oxidize which is common on copper that is left to rain and other elements. Statue of Liberty Green with the dirt elements added to darken. If you try to remove the green with a copper cleaner/ jewelry cleaner / acid bath, the top layer will fall of the coin leaving the coin with a rough, pinkish color and never be worth anything but scrap copper. So if you have one like this, don't clean the GREEN.

Coop, then the grading service decided it was not PVC and encapsulated the coin?

Have you received it back already? If it was the dark green toning, they might have slabbed it. (Enviromental Damage)

If the light green appeared (Copper Cleaner) they wouldn't as it was damaged (cleaned).
