Oh! What a deal I got

Today was truely a magnificent day. It all statred at a local swap-meet and me meeting a poor chinese fellow who was from Canada that was trying his darnedest to get back home. Well anyway, he had some coins that he was trying to sell; said they had been in his family for generations and that these little treasures had been meticulously cared for by his loving great grand father who had found them at the old family home. I guess his whole family was still back in the home land supposedly working the rice fields by hand the way he talked about them. Well anyway, he showed me what looked like some silver dollars from 1884 and 1885 that had Lady Liberty on the front and something about TRADE on the back, but being a cent person, they did not strike my fancy and I didn't know much about them anyways. He then showed me some gold coins, but I knew about those and how easy they are to make forgeries, so I passed them up also. Well anyway, he had this last coin and it was right up my alley, a Lincoln cent. I took a glance at the date and just knew that I had struck it rich. Well we haggled for a couple of hours about the price and being such a shrewed person, knowing all there is about coins, I got him down to a ridiculously low price. So, I went over to the ATM, drew all my money out of the checking account, all the money out of my savings account, all the money out of my wife's saving and checking account (she didn't like that), gave him the keys to the car, with the dog inside and for added collateral, pitched in my wife as well (she was just sreaming to much about all the money anyway); sure will miss that dog. Well me and the chinese fella, shook hands and then he almost walked off with my coin (he was having a problem shoving the wife in what was my car, while the dog was trying to bite him, good dog) until I reminded him about it. After they left, I tried to hitch home but ended up walking. Took me about three hours to walk home but as soon as I recuperated and had a six pack of beer, I got to taking the picture of my new pride and joy and here it is.

Now, ain't that a picture of beauty. A genuine, 1943 copper Lincoln cent. Just can't let it out of my sight even while I was watching "The X-men; Last Stance". You know, they are making those movies so real now a days; seems that that guy Magneto, he was the bad guy in the movie, well anyway, he seemed to be scoping out my 1943 copperLincoln cent every chance that he could. Guess he ain't to smart, everyone knows that copper ain't magnetic.

Well anyway, now I got this fine cent and I am sure that Bubha, down at the "Ye Old South Coin Shoppe" will be given me a bunch of money for it and if he can't afford it, well there is always E-bay.

PS - Seriously, the coin pictured above is NOT genuine. I did get it at a swap meet though and it actually has a doubled eyelid. Just thought that it was neat and for a couple of bucks, I couldn't go wrong.

This pup is 1/2 tea cup yorky, 1/4 pommy and 1/4 pug. Should be interesting looking full grown.

Not as interesting as a 43 copper cent but interesting. Laughing

Not real large feet so it should stay small. Been looking through todays haul from the local coin show. Saving the best for last. A roll of 1937-P Cents in BU. I have to break open the tube so it has been in there for some time.

It would be nice if there were coin shows in my area. Closest would probably be a hundred miles or so and then not so often.

I have had a couple of chances to obtain one of those heart stoppers in my life time while searching coin shows. The problem was the dissapointment of the seller because I always carry a magnet to every show just in case and so far have had to leave without the coin.It saves a lot of peace in the family because my wife hates to pack.~lucky2

I know that there Chinese feller ! He just drove by up here with a car load of coins, an irate woman, and a dog bite to his neck! He told me he needed money to get the woman a bus ticket, and for emergency treatment for the blood loss. Anyway, I am always into helping folks out, especially after hearing that woman screaming the whole time. I didn't mortgage the house and empty out the accounts like BJ did, but I did give him another dog to keep him company. (I really didn't know he could run so fast) I got this little beauty in return.

I know...bad pic, but I got one too! Actually, I found this one about a year ago when searching through an old bag of wheat cents. Actually, I may not of found it so quick if it weren't for the magnet I used to extract all the steel cents from the bag.
The pic doesn't show it too well, but this is a very nice example of a faked copper cent.
