Found a couple of these in a roll. Could not find a triple eyelid on the site yet for the 55-D, though I know some other dates have them. Sure looks like a triple eyelid, but what say you out there??

If they were made by a die I would say triple eyelid. I notice a lot of roughness on the coin. Is that pitted or raised. Not real sure, but the marks on the tripling look similar to lathe marks. But I don't see a pattern of them, they seem random. Just wondered why the coin looked so rough.

Coop, I added a third pic to the original message. Different angle. These are raised areas on the coin surface. They sure look awfully similar to each other.

Coins are actually quite lovely. Will add full views as soon as I get my regular camera working for those shots.

There are some die polish lines which may give the appearance of roughness from the magnification.

Looks like a die variety to me. Great find. When you look closely everything looks worse. Like the guy in the country song said about drinking at the bar : "I went home with a 10 at two. I woke up with a 2 at 10."

From looking at your pics, it does look like a tripled eyelid. If that is the case, it would be a new variety for coppercoins.com.
