With out a little closer look I would guess a die gouge.

Looks like the coin may also be struck a bit off center, or has a misaligned die.

Possibly a die gouge - not a die break, not sharp enough. Also the term CUD specifically relates to broken pieces of a die from the edge of the design - not within the design.

The coin is probably centered properly - looks like it was photographed in a push-in album and the coin was probably partially hidden by the cardboard around the hole.
