This is another 1964-D (though not related to my other RPM 10 listing).
I'm curious about the area under the L in LIBERTY.
Quite minor and insignificant, I realize. But it does not seem to be a strike doubling since the normal width of the letter does not seem impacted. The area underneath seems in addition to the primary letter. I also considered simple flow pattern, but it does not seem to run east/west at quite the same angle as the flow pattern.
I'm guessing it may not be a minor doubling, and no doubt too minor to analyze in great detail anyway. But hopefully the pics will provide the experts out here with an idead of the basic cause.
It doesn't look like anything significant Jim. It is possible it is mechanical in nature. You have all the diagnostics down pat, so this coin looks like a candidate for the extra change pile. _________________ Bob Piazza

Also something to watch for under the Bar DDO's is the mark on the opposite side of the coin. A mark above or below the last digit or look at the IN on Motto. There could be doubling there. _________________ Richard S. Cooper
