Posted this on the Coneca forum in the past, got no response so thought I would check with the pros here. Is this a doubled die?

Sure looks like a doubled die. The top design elements in the picture also show doubling, so I'm possitive it is a doubled die.

I agree with Gabe's assessment. It does look like a doubled die with classic notching and separation lines. Nice find!

Yes that is possible. a machine can be loose with any die and make part of it machine doubled, even doubled dies. I've got one doubled die that the left side of the coin is machine doubled and the right is a doubled die. Looks weird when you find one like that.

I was going to ask if there might be tripling, but then after reading Coops, and Bob's comments, have to agree that it most likely is MD with hub-doubling. The "8" shows very well, the effects, and the "9" shows the notch. Nice photo, and nice coin.

Dick: I as only pointing out that there can be machine doubing and a doubled die on the same coin. I believe that the coin pictured IS as doubled die. Nice find by the way.

Hi Coop thanks for the comments I took a couple more pics, sometimes I see tripling I think. I don't have a really good set up at this time for photos, so its the best I can do.

Yep... the additional pictures further prove that the coin is a doubled die.

Looks doubled by the split in the last image. I've got a coin that was doubled in someplaces and trippled in another area. So if you see trippling, you might want to check it again. On some foreign coins the doubling on some coins is common. I thought I had found something, but it was common. (Mexico coin)

I stand on my post. I believe it IS tripled. The "8" shows it nicely, and the "9" could also be. My eyes aren't in the best of shape.
Coop, those shots of the doubling, and tripling shows some of the more interesting doublings on the Mexican coinage. I have a batch ot them, in various denominatinons, some of which I have [posted in the past, (when my photos were a lot worse than now), not that they are much better yet, but....
