Found this at a local coin shop and bought it for the bust point, indicative that it was probably the L variety.

Then I got it home, took it out of its musty 2x2, and fell back into my chair when I stuck the loupe up to the date...

CD,

Cool find!

Glad to see you snag a double... L and RPD.

The CPG says its Snow-4 FS-06.72
$90 in Fine, $120 in VF

Problem with the CPG is that its values are WAY out of date. The value for a NORMAL 1864L in Fine is $145, and a VF is $185. I'd probably think of doubling the normal circ values for one like this.

Yep, and it's a bit out of date now.
It also says $15,000 for a 69-S DDO in MS65 and I doubt one exists for any price Wink

Nice find CD, I hope there are a few more where that one came from.

Great find! Very Happy I've run into dramatic RPDs and DDOs in plain view at shows. Here is the 1887 DDO Snow-1, found in a 2x2 (I apologize for the enormous pic)

In Rick Snow's attribution guide, the 1864 S-4 is listed as "very scarce". Great find!!

That's a bargain, since the last highly-publicized 69-S DDO sold for $126K this January. Laughing

Are you referring to an IHC:1869-S??? I think not, but a LMC of that date might be closer, other than the price mentioned. I'm not sure.
I sent you a PM.

Way to go Chuck! As many pennies (not indian) I look through Sooner or later I gotta find something! How rare are the 98-99 wide AM? I have been through alot of those....Alot & nothing so far. (wrong forum, figured I could stick this question in. Have lots of 69's too. They minted alot of pennies those years, but very few were errors?

1998 and 2000 wide AM should not be too tough to find if you look at enough (hundreds-thousands) of them but the 1999 wide AM is much harder to find. For that reason the 1999 is worth much more.
