Hello all
my entire collection was stolen from me on the 21st of this month. I didn't have but one coin that was encapsulated so it will be hard to pull them from the shops. my insurance is paid up and I pulled out my records for the insurance company and it was very close to 30 K. I have already alerted all the pawn shops and coin shops in town but the chance that I find them or get them back is slim. I could probably win the lottery first lol.
anyway I just wanted to let you know what's going on. that on top of the wife still being in the hospital man my life is fast and slow at the same time and I am getting dizzy lol
thanks all
Gary

The officer say's they wont even look for him/them. heck they didn't even take finger prints.they only took my safe and some of the wife's jewelry but I know it took at least 3 big guys to bring the safe out cause it took four of us to get it in. but the safe is where all the good stuff was. it was a 4 bolt safe with 3 gauge metal and had a 20 minute fire rating and I think they are going to play heck getting it open but what do I know I thought it was safe here lol

Gary, You mentioned having to "fix" the CCTV more than once. Also, that you thouyght the "guy, or kid" was just "showing off", maybe. Did, or does the system have an endless tape? Some do, and others have a re-set that rewinds. If that be the case, ther might be a picture visible, that would provide a clue as to at one might be. Given that, "one down", the others would fall. I wanted to ask about it, but considering the wife's condition, as well as yours, I thought it best to wait for an indication. Could you identify the individual you saw "messing with it", the CCTV system? Hoping some, or at least one of my questions can be answered with a yes, would mean you still have a chance of recovery. You could PM me, if you like, and describe the system, to see if there is a way to make it more effective.
Dick!

Hello Dick
nope the system has a 250 gig hard drive but I searched it with the police and all the info on it was removed somehow. I think that when they cut the wires it had shorted out the system. even the video that was on it that showed a very good shot of the guy's face was gone. I thought I was in luck though cause I had transferred the pictures to my laptop so I went to open it up on the laptop and found that it had also been taken lol I cant win for anything latly.so I better stay clear of the casino's. I go to the soda machine at the hospital and put in a five just so I can hear the change fall into the tray just to feel like I am winning something lol I know sad lol
anyway on top of all that I get a phone call from the respitory hospital that the wife is in and she is being taken back to the hospital. I guess she stopped breathing again I didn't get the full story yet so I am waiting on the phone call to tell me where she is so I can go.
I am looking for auctions that are selling luck cause I sure could use some. this is getting so old that at least the stolen coins changes the train of thought a bit so it may have just been what I needed to get my mind on other things as short lived as it was lol

Gary, I guess the ones who got the "goods", know enough about CCTV survelleince systems, to know how to defeat them! It would be a good way to locate a nice "haul", and not be too concerned with being caught! I still am curious as to how it was installed, to allow some one to be seen, (as if it were a camera outside,, and anothet inside the area in question. I know nothing about them, but I have an idea as to what I would use foe that purpose, and also a backup that would automatically back up each days data. "Never put a horse to work, without someone handling the reins"! What I'm saying is that this "smells" like an "inside job"!! Did you install it, or was it "Professional installation?
maybe this will take your mind off the situation, on-going, and distract you ebnough to allow you to "play the Soda-Pop, slot machines! Or just get some much-needed rest!

Gary, that is known as, "closing the barn door, after the horses have left"! But, the idea is sound, because next time, they might get the idea to burn the barn, too! Your idea is sound, and highly recommended. Knowing you, this will only slow you down, but sure as hell won't make you stop!

It is very disheartening about all you have been going through Gary. Some day, your patience and perseverance will be rewarded. No one knows when why or how things happen but you've got to keep the faith and know that we are still praying for you. Although the coins were a part of your life too, they are material things. The importance in your life right now is your wife, and I continue to pray for both of you. God Bless!

Gary - You need to contact "Numismatic Crime Information Center" as soon as possible. That site is the one to help you the best in recovering the coins that were taken.

For the rest of you, take a look at this site and then book mark it. Hopefully you will never need it, but it is always wise to take a look at what has been stolen, especial if it is around your area.

Hi everyone! I have no idea what my collection is worth, but I do have an invemntory, ot the coins, books, equipment, ertc, cost. It does NOT include the boxes of coins that have been bought. The quarter collection, in fave value is muich more than a box. I went thru all the "high grade" stuff in the Canadian coins, and most of it is Proof, PL, SP, and collector sets. The cost is known, in the master inventory log. Tjhe ones that are not inventoried, by date, etc, are the larg lots that were purchased, and are in boxes of 100 square tubes, of single date rolls. There is seven of them alone, in CDN cents.
Well folks, I have to get back to my kiving room. The carpet is pulled away from the wall, and large doorway, going into the dining room. Seems that while we were taking care of my daughters two Chihuahuas, for about three months, they unknown to me had used the back of a recliner, tp pee! Because most of the urine went down to the carpet, and padding, it was like "peeing on a sponge"! the flooring is particle board, and when it gets wet, it comes all apart. What was to be the plugging od the hole for the cooler register, ( since removed, and the register sealed). There is where I found the bad news! I just finished making the supporting sections for the whokle repair, the filler board was the only thing left. 10 screws, and then the catpeting goes back, and I'm done. This was discovered, because we are replacing all the carpeting in the house, (almost). None in the kitchen, washroom, bathrooms, nor the computer room.. The need to close two holes in the flooring, brought out the "bad news", which you already know. CUL, it's back to work!
