Another tool I use in addition to above is a CAD system. I scan images of coins into a CAD system and plot the relative coordinates of design devices to aid in attributing varieties.

I can tell from the equipment you use, that you are, "justafarmer", in name only!
I never thought of the CAD system, as another way to make overlays, but I'll bet it works.
