1992 missing clad layer Value?

Any idea what it would be worth? It looks almost like a steel cent, Sorry i dont have a picture right now.

rikker: Check to see if is a type 1 (Narrow AM)or type 2 die (Wide AM) for that year. The close letters AM on AMERICA would be worth a hefty premium not considering the missing Copper plating. Did you find it in a Bank roll, Tubed, or Circulated? If from circulation or in a tubed roll, someone might have tampered with it. If it was a OBW roll or a sealed mint bag, then it could be authentic. But as for a value on the missing plating, I would do a search of unplated Cents on Ebay on the closing price to get an idea as to value.

I found it in a circulated roll from the bank , that was what i was wondering, if someone could have dipped it in acid or something to remove the copper. It has a wide AM reverse.thanks

Probably tampered with. The previous owner knew what he die with the coin and sent it back to be recycled/used again. I would hang on to as an educational piece. I've tried to see if I could make a coin that way, but didn't have the right stuff to do it. I did manage to turn a 1943 Steel cent into a look that looked like copper. I put it in with a bunch of wheat Cents that I got rid of a few years back. Probably someone will find it and think they've hit the jack pot!!!! LOL

Coop...ABout 4 months ago, I found a copper plated 1943 cent in a bag of wheats. It couldn't have been yours though,, because the bag had many varieties in it that I know you wouldn't have missed. It was very, very well done and looked convincing until I took the magnet to it. So....are you messing with me

Bob: I sold the wheats to a buyer in Tucson, AZ. So unless you bought from him, I doubt that it was my 43 Copper.
