Per Oct 17 Coin World, an MS65 red 1958 DDO has sold for "in excess of $100,000". Of the two known specimens, this is the better one.

Both cents were found "some 45 years ago: in a mint sewn bag.

The other coin, an MS64, sold for $25K in 1996.

Same issue of Coin World says a 1916 DDO Buffalo (MS64) has sold for $264,500 at Long Beach.

Varieties are the spice of life!

Well I think I would have noticed that one if I came across it. It is a no brainer on that one. Great coin though.

If some people search only the dates for signs of doubling it looks like this one could be missed.

Looking at the two presented 1958 doubled dies, there is a marked difference in the two reverses. The bottom reverse seems to be of a later die state than the top coin; notice the die scratches and also the weak strike centered on the top left of the O of ONE. It gives us hope that there are more of these little puppies out there to be found Very Happy

October 17 Coin World has a good picture of the 1958 DDO.

Probably one guy is sitting on a boat load of them, selling off a couple just to keep the price up..... Twisted Evil
