I have a 1914-S Lincoln Cent that is in VF or better condition. It has a nice strike and all details are well struck, except for some very obvious mint errors.

On the Obverse:

The “L” in “LIBERTY” is extremely weak and appears to be invisible when you look at the coin straight on. If you angle the coin down and to the left, the L will appear. The “I” in “LIBERTY” is a little weak, but all other letters in “LIBERTY” are extremely well struck.

On the Reverse:

The letters “E” and “P” at the beginning of “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are well struck, as well as the letter “M” at the end. All letters in between have varying degrees of weakness.

But the most obvious error on the reverse is the missing top portion of the “O” in “ONE CENT.” The bottom portion of the “O” is well struck, but as it moves upward, the “O” fades away until a portion of it is totally missing.

Has anyone else run across these types of errors on a 1914-S?I'd be glad to send pics of this coin to anyone who wants them, or to Chuck if he would like to post them.

Thanks,

Dana
