Rick: The horizonal lines appear to be raised. Is that the case? If they are raised they may be from a damaged die. If sunk into the field it may be circulation damage. Can't really tell from the image, but it appears like its raised from what I can see. Intersting, but probably not a premium for the coin. Probably something strong into the dies and left a mark or maybe a screw driver time trying to clean the die? Just speculating.

Hi Coop

I know the pics are bad,, The horizontal lines are in fact raised,

If you look at the D you can see the line thru the lower loop of the D.

Thanks for the comments I appreciate it .

Rick

With the line behind the D the scratch/gouge/foreign object in the die the shallower the mark in the die, the other details are deeper, the more it appears behind. You have to remember that the die is a mirror image. The fields being the highest and the details letters/numbers devices are deeper into the die. When a die clashes the marks of the outline is what is visible, not the depth of the letters. Same as with scratches/gouges in the field they are on the upper part of the die and not the deeper part. I have seen a few marks where the cleaning brush made a scratch on the deeper part, but that is rare.
