I'm going through a roll of bu 1970d's and I noticed one is thinner towards the bottom and thicker towards the top, the colloar is normal on this coin the other has almsot no collar on top. Is this normal, I've never paid much attention to this before but they happen to be in a clear tube. No pic's yet the batteries for my camera bit the bullet.

Mike,
The thickness of coins will vary from time to time. This has to do with the striking more than anything else. The way to tell if the planchet may have been off is to weigh the coin. The standard weight for a 1970 coin should be about 3.0 - 3.1 grams.
If the coin was struck while not being properly seated in the collar, or without the collar at all, a broad-strike could occur. In this case, the coin would have a larger diameter and most likely a bit thinner as the collar would have confined the expansion of the planchet when struck.

Thanks, I have no way of weighing it, I thought about it being struck maybe harder then the others. it's slanted towards the bottom part is all.

You could be right Mike. The majority of the thicker/thinner anomalies are normally caused by the dies not being exactly parallel. Therefore, the one side hitting the planchet first, would strike harder than the opposite side. Some of these coins are actually pretty cool

This is kind of cool looking, if it was a nickel it would look better being thicker.
